What is the Difference between Power Flossers and Water Flossers?
Posted on 3/15/2018 by Lemond Hunter
When it comes to cleaning your teeth and gums, a traditional toothbrush and dental floss are no longer just the choices available. Advancement in technology in dental cleaning has introduced new tools, such as the power flosser and water flosser, although these two can be classified as appliances instead of just tools.
Water Flosser
A water flosser is an oral health appliance that includes a water reservoir, motor with pump, and special water flosser tip. It works by releasing pressurized and pulsating water to come out of the water tank to the flosser tip straight into the mouth. Because the water being released from the flosser is pressurized and pulsating, it has the ability to remove from the teeth food particles, plaque, and bacteria effectively.
Power Flosser
A power flosser works by removing plaque biofilm that is lodged between the teeth. With a power flosser, a combination of water droplets and a fast burst of air cause the release of the biofilm from between the teeth. This action is referred to as ‘microburst technology'.
What is the Difference Between the Two? The main difference between a power flosser and a water flosser is that with the latter, large amount of pulsating water is released as opposed to the water droplets discharged by the power flosser. So, the big question now is, which of the two is better?
It really depends on the preference of the user, since both are effective with their function of interproximal cleaning. If you prefer large amounts of water for your flossing, then the water flosser is for you, but if you prefer the power of the micro droplets, your choice is the power flosser.
But if you want a wider explanation of which of the two is appropriate to your dental cleaning needs, we will be more than willing to provide you with that answer. We can guide you in making a decision between a power flosser and a water flosser.
