Can You Make it To Where Your Teeth Are Less Sensitive to Heat?

Can You Make it To Where Your Teeth Are Less Sensitive to Heat?If you suffer from teeth sensitivity from heat, it can become uncomfortable to enjoy your favorite foods in the cold winter months or any other time. You may be asking yourself if there is any way to make it, so your teeth are less sensitive to heat.

Reasons for Sensitivity to Heat

There are many reasons why your teeth may feel sensitive to heat, but the important thing is to determine the underlying cause for your condition. Healthy teeth can tolerate heat and cold very well and should not give you any discomfort when eating any kinds of food.

Some of the reasons for teeth sensitivity are:
•  Receding gums
•  Gum disease
•  Cavities
•  Bruxism or the grinding and clenching of the teeth
•  Plaque buildup
•  Tooth decay
•  How Teeth Sensitivity is Treated

There are some things you can do to alleviate the symptoms from sensitivity to heat including:
•  Avoid acidic foods - acids are not only found in things like oranges, limes, and lemons. Tomatoes are highly acidic and eating when you eat them regularly it aggravates your sensitivity.
•  Use a very soft-bristled toothbrush - brushing too hard can result in sensitivity. You don't have to brush vigorously. Hard brushing can be responsible for some cases of receding gums. Be gentle and don't put too much pressure when you brush. It's also important to replace your brush at least every six months or as soon as the bristles look worn.
•  Use toothpaste for sensitive teeth - although this won't solve the problem entirely, it will help with the symptoms. Stay away from teeth whitening toothpaste and products that contain sodium pyrophosphate as they increase sensitivity.

Again, it's vital to determine why your teeth are sensitive and treat the underlying condition to effectively reduce the pain this condition causes when you eat or speak.
