Your parents were right, brushing your teeth is an important part of your oral hygiene routine. By brushing off the plaque that builds up on your teeth you are taking away the bacteria which releases acids onto your teeth. These acids erode the enamel of your teeth. If you take care of your enamel, you are taking big steps to protect your teeth from cavities. It is just as important to brush your teeth well.
How to Brush Your Teeth Like a Pro
Our first tip is to place your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle to your gums to ensure the best cleaning between the teeth and gums. Look in the mirror to attain this recommendation. This angle ensures that germs and bacteria are removed from those hard-to-reach places between your teeth and gums. Also, rotate your toothbrush vertically to get behind your front teeth, using gentle up and down strokes. Move your toothbrush on all your other teeth back and forth in wide strokes. Be gentle on your teeth and gums.
Our second tip has to do with how long you brush your teeth. Brush for two minutes a tooth brushing session. If you brush shorter than that, you are probably not getting all your teeth adequately brushed. If you brush longer than that, it may be that you are brushing too vigorously. Set a timer for two minutes to help you keep the time in mind while you brush your teeth.
