Getting a filling allows a cavity in your tooth to be filled in.

They can be made from a number of different materials. Some of the older materials that dentists used were dark, meaning they stood out when you opened your mouth.

If you have any fillings like this, it may be time to talk to your dentist about having them replaced with fillings that match your tooth's natural color.

How to Talk About Getting a Filling Replacement

The simple answer is to just bring it up with your dentist the next time you see them for an exam. Ask if the old fillings are any type of a danger to your mouth, and if there is anything that you can do to make the fillings less noticeable.

Your dentist may take a look at the filling while you are there, or they may have you come back for a consultation for composite fillings. Either way, you can then find out what the process is for replacing your old, obvious filling with a new, hardly noticeable filling that most people would never be able to see.

It is not hard to talk to your dentist, you just have to speak with them openly. Tell them what you are worried about, even if it is purely cosmetic, as they understand. They can give you a run down of what the procedure would entail, including the cost, and then you can decide what is best for you.

Having a filling that stands out each time you smile can impact your self-esteem, and that is reason enough to get it replaced if it bothers you. Contact our office for what options you have, and then work out the best way to achieve the results you are looking for.
